Commodores Open Fall Season
Vanderbilt Football Set to Kick Off 2023 Campaign
Commodores Look to Build on Last Season's Success
The Vanderbilt Commodores are set to open their 2023 fall football season on Saturday, September 2nd, when they host the Eastern Michigan Eagles at Vanderbilt Stadium. The Commodores are coming off a 5-8 season in 2022, but they return a number of key players from that team, including quarterback AJ Swann, running back Ray Davis, and wide receiver Will Sheppard.
Swann is one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the SEC, and he will be looking to lead the Commodores to their first bowl game since 2018. Davis is a rising star in the SEC, and he is coming off a season in which he rushed for over 1,000 yards. Sheppard is one of the most talented wide receivers in the country, and he is coming off a season in which he had over 1,000 receiving yards.
The Commodores also have a number of talented players on defense, including linebacker Anfernee Orji and defensive back Jaylen Mahoney. Orji is one of the best linebackers in the SEC, and he is coming off a season in which he had over 100 tackles. Mahoney is a rising star in the SEC, and he is coming off a season in which he had over 50 tackles and 3 interceptions.
The Commodores are hoping to build on last season's success and make a bowl game in 2023. They have a talented team, and they are playing in a weak SEC East division. If they can stay healthy and play to their potential, they have a chance to make some noise in the SEC this season.
