Lyles Wins First World 100 Metres Title
Noah Lyles of the United States has won the men's 100 metres at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Lyles crossed the finish line in a time of 9.86 seconds, ahead of silver medallist Christian Coleman (9.94) and bronze medallist Trayvon Bromell (9.99). This is Lyles' first world championship title in the 100 metres, adding to his bronze medal from 2019.
Lyles had a strong start out of the blocks and maintained his lead throughout the race. Coleman and Bromell were close behind, but Lyles was able to hold them off for the win. This was a significant victory for Lyles, as he has been consistently performing well in recent years but had yet to win a major outdoor title in the 100 metres.
The men's 100 metres was one of the most anticipated events of the World Championships, and Lyles' victory was a popular one. He is one of the most exciting young sprinters in the world, and his win is a sign that he is ready to take over as the next generation of 100-metre stars.
